I graduated from the University of British Columbia with dual degrees in Psychology and Microbiology in 2002. I then undertook my Doctor of Dental Surgery degree at the University of Detroit Mercy. For 5 years, I provided extensive treatment to patients who lacked convenient access to the dental specialties and then after completing an advanced prosthetic program at the KOIS centre in Seattle I moved back to the lower mainland to call it home. I have completed training for oral conscious sedation for patients with anxiety, training for both the cosmetic and therapeutic treatment of facial aesthetics with Botox and I am a member of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentists.
I was born and raised in Grand Forks as part of a large, tight-knit family. When it comes to finding a dentist, I know how to spot a good one. I saw the same dentist from the time I was a toddler until I was in college. That experience made a lasting impression on me and it gave me a model of how a positive dentist-patient relationship should be. I want to help patients find solutions to whatever obstacles they have. I want to make people feel motivated and excited to come to the dentist.
I love seeing patients at Blue Water Dental so I can welcome new residents, introduce myself to long time residents, hear their stories and get to know them over time. Learning about people’s careers and life changes and watching families develop as mine does as well is a source of great joy for me.
Outside of work, I spend most of my time with my wife, Dimple, and my two incredible children, Arya and Sahil. Together, we love going to the beach and building sandcastles, vacationing and enjoying all the local parks here. My favourite side hobby is photography and learning how to get better at it every time I pick up a camera. I also enjoy learning new things including how to code this website!
Dr. Hau was born in Hong Kong and moved to Vancouver at a young age of 7. After completing his undergraduate degree in Kinesiology at Simon Fraser University, Dr. Hau started his journey in Dentistry when he became involved in the Oral Cancer Prevention Program at the BC Cancer Agency. He then pursued a Master’s of Science in Craniofacial Science at University of British Columbia and eventually completing his Dental degree at the University of New England.
One of the highlights prior to starting his DMD degree, Dr. Hau was involved with a peer support men’s wellness program focusing on building supportive relationships while also promoting health wellness and Canadian Indigenous culture. Dr. Hau is very grateful for this experience as it broadened his perspectives on mental wellness and serving vulnerable populations.
Dr. Hau is a strong believer in continuing education and evidence based research. He has published in research journals and presented at national conferences relating to Oral Cancer, Oral Health and Mental Wellness. Dr. Hau not only focuses on delivering quality dentistry but also building relationships with patients and educating them about their oral health. Making each dental visit a fun and positive environment for his patients is always one of Dr. Hau’s top priority.
Yes, I was born and raised in Cloverdale.
I think what I like the most is that coming to work is like coming home to family. Everyone gets along so well, and we all work so well as a team. The clientele is amazing and have been coming here for years so you start to get to know people well. Its always a great feeling when you like coming to work.
I love my family time for sure. I spend a lot of time watching both my children play competitive Volleyball while their Dad coaches them. A passion of mine is helping people and giving back. I love to read business and self-help books so I am continually growing. I also love spending time with family and friends.
Yes, I was born in Burnaby, moved to California and missed the rain so I came back! lol
I've been in the dental field for over 15 years and every opportunity has had lessons and challenges that I have embraced. Blue Water Dental is no different as I get to help build on all the great relationships that Dr Yip and Ava have created over the years with existing patients while also building new connections with our new patients.
My daughter and my son keep me busy with ballet, piano, dance and Taekwondo. I love being a mom but find time to enjoy an audiobook in my freetime and working out at my home gym. Love my treadmill!
I was born in Canada and could not imagine being in a better place.
I absolutely love seeing those patients who have not been to the dentist in a long time or, in some instances, for their entire lives. The opportunity to teach patients about their dental health, teach them how to care for their teeth and gums properly, take the before pictures and then remove years of calculus buildup to reveal their actual teeth, and then show them the after pictures is truly satisfaction to the core.
I spend a lot of time with my family and my husband, it's always a busy schedule to be sure but I love organizing so it feeds my OCD addiction!
I graduated from Hygiene school in Toronto in 2008 and have been helping people smile ever since!
I actually was born in Grand Prairie, Alberta and then grew up in the quaint town of Gold River on the Island.
It has a great sense of community which I really value
Leonard Cohen with my mom.
I have three awesome kids that keep me on my toes and when I get a chance to jet off to Las Vegas with my husband I take it! I also like to run so I can get just a little me time too and have trained for a couple marathons.
I finished hygiene school over a 10 years ago and love coming to my job every day!
I grew up in Langley my whole life and that's why I continue to work in the community that gave me so much
The patients are very welcoming and make my job so much easier. It helps me keep a smile all day long.
Coldplay
My two kids keep me on my tippy toes. They are just starting school and I'm sure I'll be busy between all the dance, sports and school projects they will be involved in.
I love working with my patients and the rest of the team at Blue Water Dental; I’m lucky to have such great co-workers.
I grew up in the lower mainland but a little-known fact I was born in Iceland, and you would not believe how good the licorice is there!
I’ve been in the field for over 10 years. I love so many things about the dentistry but one of my favorite parts is being able to spread cheer with my upbeat personality! People don’t always like coming to the dentist and I love the opportunity to make them feel comfortable and give them a better atmosphere.
Backstreet Boys.... 3X... LOL
I love camping with the family and spending as much time as I can with my kids. Driving them from point A to point B is where most of my time goes #momlife
